The Save-A-Lot concept is simple. Generate tremendous volume through a limited assortment of high quality grocery product, purchased at the lowest possible cost and sold at the lowest possible price. From three stores in 1977 to more than 500 stores in over half the country today, Save-A-Lot is poised to meet the growing demands of a growing market.

The Save-A-Lot program is one of the most successful in the country...highly efficient and highly productive. With the average Save-A-Lot store operating in about 12,000 square feet, as opposed to the 50,000 to 70,000square feet of major supermarkets, a lot of the overhead is eliminated...sales per employee hour in Save-A-Lot stores are normally double or triple of what a conventional supermarket will average.

And Save-A-Lot stores are unique in other ways, clearly setting them apart from the competition. Very few national labels are sold. Instead, custom label products dominate Save-A-Lot aisles. Our buyers carefully screen hundreds of products before just a few are selected to take their place on Save-A-Lot shelves. And, our internal label department goes through extensive steps to conceive, design and trademark each product's custom label.
